A sales development representative (SDR) is an inside sales representative that focuses on outreach, prospecting, and lead qualification. SDR doesn’t focus on closing business but connecting with as many leads as possible and determining if they’re good customer fits.
SDR moves leads through the sales pipeline. He/she connects and learns about their businesses and needs. If a prospect is a good fit, SDR schedules next steps with sales reps higher in the organization.
SDR educates, answers questions, and sends resources to potential customers. He/she contacts every lead and determines who stays and who goes.
